All Unisa students who were able to pass their qualifications successfully are required to participate in the general graduation ceremony for the 2026 academic year which will take place from the month of May and June, and will be presented in 7 regions. The graduations at Unisa takes place at the main campus in Pretoria, and other regions. At the other regions, the graduations take place in Mbombela, Polokwane, Bloemfontein, East London, Cape Town, and Durban. Graduands must note this, on arrival to the ceremony, graduands are required to present theirselves at the registration desk in the foyer and verify their identity by presenting their official identity document, passport, marriage certificate or South African driver’s licence. A seating card with your name, qualification and seat number will be handed to you, together with your guest tickets. Collect your academic attire.

Unisa Graduation Date And Venue:

• UNISA’s Autumn graduations for 2026 academic year will take place from May to June. Ceremonies will be held in seven regions: Pretoria, Durban, Cape Town, East London, Mbombela, Polokwane, and Bloemfontein.

Who Qualifies For The Unisa Graduation:

• A graduation ceremony will be held for students who have earned a degree, three year diploma, or postgraduate diploma and other qualifications.

Things To Consider Before And During Unisa Graduation Section:

Each candidate must take note of the below relevant informations in order not to be deprived in attending the Unisa graduation 2025:

• You may be refused admission to the venue if you cannot show any proof of identification.
• Graduands, diplomands and guests must be seated 30 minutes before the start of the ceremony.
• Late arrivals or guests without tickets will not be admitted into the graduation hall.
• Guest seats are not reserved.
• All graduands, diplomands and guests should rise when the academic procession enters the hall. They may only be seated once the Chancellor has given the signal to do so.
• Graduands, diplomands and guests are requested to remain seated for the duration of the ceremonyand not to leave the hall until the academic procession has exited the hall at the end of the ceremony.
• All gradudates, diplomates and guests should remain standing until the academic procession has left the hall.
• You are not obliged to order any photographs taken during the ceremony.

How To Know Your Graduation Status:

• UNISA will send you an email or SMS once your qualification is complete.
• You will also receive an advance statement of results, which shows your final marks.

How To Access Unisa Graduation:

To check your graduation information:

• Log in to myUnisa with your student number and password.
• Click on “myAdmin,” then “Student Admin,” and finally “Graduation information.”
• Review the details, make corrections and submit the form if required.

How and Where To Get Unisa Graduation Gown:

• UNISA partners with House of Graduates for gown rentals and purchases. You can hire or buy your academic attire from them. (Note: Prices vary depending on your qualification level)
• There are price differences in acquiring the gown and it depends on the graduates interest. For instance, hiring a bachelor’s set (gown, hood, and cap) costs R320, while purchasing it costs R2,050.
• You can collect your attire at the graduation venue three hours before the ceremony starts.
• If you hire the attire, you must return it immediately after the ceremony to avoid a late fee of R100 per day.

What To Wear For Unisa Graduation:

Wearing the correct academic dress is compulsory. At Unisa graduation, gradians are required to wear decent outfit. Also some colleges have specific colors and designs for hoods and neckbands. For instance, the College of Education uses green ribbons, while the College of Human Sciences uses golden brown.

Graduation is a formal event. You should dress formally or in traditional attire. Avoid wearing jeans, t-shirts, or sports shoes. Below are some examples of outfit, graduands can wear for Unisa graduation.

For Bachelor, Honours, and Master’s Degrees:

• Gown: Black, styled like a Master of Arts gown from Oxford or Cambridge.
• Cap: Black with a black tassel.
• Hood: Specific to your degree and college

For Diplomas:

• Gown: Black, same style as above.
• Neckband: Worn instead of a hood.
• Cap: Not worn for diplomas
