Applying for your desired bachelor’s degree program at the University of South Africa requires you to meet the general minimum admission requirements to qualify. Alternatively, you can apply for admission and study preferred bachelor programs at Unisa after qualifying your higher certificate education programmes successfully. Unisa has officially opened the student portal for new desiring higher certificate applicants to apply for admissions by visiting the official website page of Unisa, where applications begin from 21st of August, 2025. Unisa application fee cost R140 and every applicants are required to pay for the application fee to grab the admission form, fill it out and ensure to submit all applications before the deadline date, which is October 11th, 2025.

Prospective applicants must take note that completion of a lower-level qualification, such as a higher certificate, is not a guarantee that you will be admitted to the higher-level qualification (eg diploma or bachelor’s degree), as spaces are limited. Therefore, the introduction of this qualification programs at Unisa is aimed at providing the necessary basic skills to succeed within the Open Distance Learning (ODeL) environment and also some articulation into first year undergraduate Degree/Diploma qualifications offered at the University of South Africa (Unisa).

The university of South Africa does not provide any electronic devices such as, scanners to scan documents so applicants must ensure to scan every supported documents and attach them to the application form for submission. Also Unisa does not accept late applications, therefore any applications that will be submitted after the deadline date as specified by Unisa will not be processed or those applications will be canceled from the 2026 enrollment.

The applications date for the higher certificate qualification for the 2026-2027 academic year is provided below and all applications are expected to be submitted before the closing date.

Who Can Apply For Unisa Higher Certificate 2026:

Any interested applicants wanting to study at Uisa can apply for admission but applicants who meets the minimum admission requirements of Unisa will be offered an admission into the institution.

Everyone wanting to start a new qualification must apply for admission. This includes first-time Unisa applicants and Unisa students changing to a new qualification and/or specialisation.
If you are completing a basic education, you must apply for admission if you want to continue with further higher certificate studies.
You must re-apply for admission if you previously applied for admission and were offered a space, but did not accept the offer and/or did not register for any reason.
Everyone planning to enrol for classes at a Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) college under the Unisa-TVET agreement must apply for admission.

Unisa Application Fee For Online Higher Certificate:

In order to get the application forms and apply for admission at Unisa for the higher certificate qualification, applicant are required to pay a non-refundable amount of R140.00. Applicants must remember that any amount paid for the application fee is not refundable.

Any applicants who uses other means to attain the admission form is not accepted and such application will be declined.
You can pay the application fee through the accredited payment platform given by Unisa or via electronic fund transfer (EFT) or credit card.

Requirements For Unisa Higher Certificate Application:

In order to be enrolled to the Unisa 2026-2027 academic year admission for the higher certificate qualification, every prospective applicants must meet the minimum admission requirement provided below:

Applicants must provide original documentations.
Prospective applicants must fill out the application forms valid personal informations and avoid mistakes.
Copy of your school qualifications (eg National Senior Certificate).
Copy of your ID document (RSA students) or ID / passport (international students).
Copy of your marriage certificate (if applicable) or divorce decree (if applicable).
Sworn translations of documents if they are not in English or Afrikaans.
Any additional documents as may be required for a specific Short Learning Programme.
