This applies to first-time applicants, current UNISA students changing qualifications or specializations, those who previously applied but were not offered a place, individuals who accepted an offer but did not register, and students completing a higher certificate or other programs seeking further undergraduate studies.

Admission will depend on meeting the specific requirements for your chosen qualification, and if you do not qualify, your application will not be processed. Additionally, an online application fee of R150.00 is required once you receive your student number from UNISA.

Below are the important dates and deadlines for Unisa applications for the 2026 academic year;

• Undergraduate Applications for admission to undergraduate qualifications for the 2026 academic year are to be open from 18 August to 10 October 2025.
• Applications for admission to honours degrees and postgraduate diplomas for the 2026 academic year are to be open from 18 August to 10 October 2025.
• Applications for admission to master’s and doctoral degrees for the 2025 academic year are to be open from 2 September to 21 November 2025 (some exceptions apply).
• Application and registration for Unisa’s Short Learning Programmes are open from 5 January to 13 February 2026 for First semester modules. Applications for year modules will remain open until 13 March 2026.
