The University of South Africa will be opening the student portal on 23rd of November, 2025 to enroll new applicants willing to apply for admission and study preferred Master’s Education courses and programs. All aspiring applicants are urged to visit the formal website page of Unisa and apply for admissions after paying the non-refundable application fee of R140.00 to have access to the admission form as well as Unisa homepage. Interested must take note that, Unisa is dependent on you meeting the specific admission requirements for your chosen qualification. If you don’t meet the demanded admission requirements, you may consider alternative qualifications.

Every prospective applicants applying for the Unisa master education program is expected to fill the admission form with valid personal informations, including contact details and ensure to complete and submit all applications by the deadline date of 31st of January, 2026. Therefore, any application that will be submitted after the closing date specified by Unisa will not be accepted and those applications may be canceled for the 2026- 2027 academic year enrollment.

In addition, admissions for the masters in education program can be applied online, through the Unisa official website page and other alternative way of applying for master education program is to go directly to the Unisa premises, pick up the admission form, fill it out and turn to the administration department of Unisa or the admission board. Prospective applicants are required to scan all supported documentations and attach them to the application form before submission.

Unisa Application Date For Master’s In Education:

Who Can Apply Unisa Master’s In Education:

  • Everyone wanting to start a new qualification must apply for admission, including first-time Unisa applicants, Unisa students wanting to apply for a new qualification, students in their final year of a qualification wanting to start a master’s or doctoral qualification, and previously registered master’s and doctoral students who did not register for the 2024 academic year and now wish to continue with their studies.
  • You may only apply for one qualification at master’s and doctoral level. It is imperative, therefore, that you ensure that you meet the minimum admission requirements for your qualification of choice before applying for admission. Should you submit a second application, please note that it will replace your first application.
  • If you are applying for admission to other qualification, you must apply with a Unisa student number (unless you previously studied at Unisa towards a formal qualification) and complete the online application process.

Unisa Application Fee For Master’s In Education:

Each applicants is required to pay a cost of R140.00 to obtain the admission form before applying for admission. Applicants must take note that, the payed amount for the application form is not refundable at any circumstances. Even if you decide not to study through Unisa or do not qualify for admission to Unisa.

  • The required amount for the application fees is R140.00
  • Applicants are to proceed with the payment of the application fees after receiving student number from Unisa.
  • Use the student number and application fees allocation number as your reference number.

Unisa Requirements For Master’s In Education:

All prospective applicants are to take note that, Unisa is dependent on you meeting the specific admission requirements for your chosen qualification. If you don’t meet the demanded admission requirements, you may consider alternative qualifications. Below are the minimum admission requirements demanded by Unisa.

  • Applicants are required to provide authentic documentation including identification documents, such as ID cards, Birth certificate, Valid Passport, etc.
  • An appropriate Bachelor of Education Honours Degree, with a minimum of 96 credits at NQF level 8 with an average of 60%. or an appropriate Postgraduate Diploma, with a minimum of 96 credits at NQF level 8 with an average of 60%.
  • A student who is admitted on the strength of a Postgraduate Diploma and who has not completed a module in research methodology will be required to complete such a module at NQF level 8 for NDP before he/she will be allowed to register for the module in research methodology of which the outcome is the research proposal.
  • All students with foreign qualifications, including those with qualifications from African countries, must have their qualifications evaluated at SAQA. (www.saqa.org.za)
  • Aspiring applicants must submit a transcript or an academic record, as well as a document describing their intended research. Students will be accepted on the following criteria: Suitability and viability of the intended research; adequate supervisory capacity and research expertise in the discipline or department, and an approved selection procedure which is in line with Unisa’s policies on equality and diversity in the discipline or department.
